IWAKURA // Audio-Visual Installation / 2022
Iwakura is an immersive audio-visual experience created for fulldome format. It’s a collaboration with the Japanese musician Kazuya Nagaya.
The term Iwakura comes from Shinto mythology and refers to the spirits that inhabit sacred rock formations throughout Japan. By immersing the audience in organic visual material collected in the Kumano region, the cradle of Japanese spirituality, and Nagaya's meditative soundscapes inspired by Zen Buddhist prayer rituals, Iwakura represents a profound journey to rediscover the majesty of nature. The work presents a renewed sense for our connection with nature, in fact a renewed sense about humanity itself.
